Purchased directly from the artist by a private collector c.1973-74, by whom sold, Christie's, Edinburgh, 23 October 2008, lot 171, where purchased by the present owners
Condition
Original canvas. There are areas of craquelure pattern. There are visible horizontal stretcher marks visible in the upper and centre portions of the canvas. There is some surface dirt and a slightly discoloured and uneven layer of surface varnish. The work appears to have been re-stretched over a new stretcher.
UV light inspection reveals no evidence of any retouching or restoration.
