Condition
The sheet has been laid on board. There are faint parallel marks running horizontally across the top half of the sheet. The surface is covered in a layer of dirt and there are spots in places. The sheet is hinged to its mount along all four edges. Held in a metal gilt wooden frame behind glass. Unexamined out of frame.

Catalogue Note
The present lot bears a certain similarity to Bakst's 1904 illustrations for The Nose, a satirical short story by Nikolai Gogol written between 1835 and 1836, as well as his illustrations for the World of Art magazine (1898-1904).
