Condition
Original canvas which is slightly slack on its stretcher and is buckling in places. There is a small dent in the upper right which has caused the paint to flake. A horizontal scratch can be seen on the far right where the grass meets the sky. There is craquelure in places, most notably a pattern of vertical cracks in the sky and along the right edge. Some of these are slightly raised but appear stable at present. There is a layer of surface dirt. There are frame abrasions along all four edges. Inspection under UV light reveals some scattered retouching but a thick layer of discoloured varnish prevents a more thorough analysis. Held in a painted wooden frame. Unexamined out of frame.
