Condition
Structural Condition
The artist's canvas has been lined onto a piece of hardboard. The hardboard support is
securely attached to what appears to be the artist's original, keyed wooden stretcher. The
canvas tacking edges remain pinned to the edges of the stretcher.
Paint Surface
The paint surface has an even varnish layer.
There is a pattern of very fine lines of drying craquelure within the shore line in the lower left
quadrant of the composition. These are entirely stable and are not visually distracting.
Inspection under ultra-violet light shows just a few tiny scattered spots of retouching.
Summary
The painting would therefore appear to be in very good and stable condition.
