Description

  • Wool, pile
  • approximately 601 by 363cm; 19ft. 7in., 11ft. 9in.

Condition

Overall measurements; 357cm across the top, 363cm across the bottom, 595cm along the left side, 601cm along the right side. Dense pile overall, between 5 - 8mm generally, with some localised areas of lower pile, e.g. in central field just above the central medallion where there is some localised wear to knotbars. Some areas of low pile in a horizontal band through the centre, mainly in the grey - probably oxidisation. There is a section of re-piling in the upper right hand quarter in inner guard, approx. 25 by 25cm, possibly a repaired hole, well executed and barely visible. Scattered areas of restoration and re-piling. Fringes trimmed to knotheads at each end, sidecords appear original. A very striking carpet in overall in good condition, ready to use. Unusual large scale border and palette. Pale grey not often seen.
