Lithograph printed in colours, 1953-4, a rare proof impression, one of a few colour variants (aside from the edition of 75), inscribed by the printer Fernand Mourlot 'Epreuve en cours 1er état pour Castor FM' verso in black crayon, with printed images of nude figures along the left margin verso, on Arches wove paper, published by Maeght, Paris, framed

Provenance

A letter written in German by Castor Seibel, dated 14th November 1996, describes the provenance of the work which was sold by Georges Braque's printer, Fernand Mourlot, to his publishing and illustration colleague Castor Seibel to whom the print is dedicated: it is from my collection; I bought it at that time from Fernand Mourlot himself.

Condition

This is a rare proof impression printed on a large sheet of Arches wove paper with a broken central horizontal crease, minor paper discoloration and foxing mostly in the margins, handling marks and soiling along edges of sheet, other handling creases, further foxing and lithographic ink verso, framed.
