Etching, circa 1777-84, the fifth (final) state, a good impression of this rare print, printing with strong contrasts, though showing slight signs of wear, mainly in the foreground and at the upper left corner, a few tiny areas of wear in the Chimera
Condition
With a thread margin below, trimmed just within platemark at top, left and right, leaving a border all around the subject, generally in good condition, the print backed on thick paper, with associated rippling, a couple of short, unobtrusive creases and a 5mm tear in the lower margin, occasional traces of surface soiling, a few pale stains towards the upper and lower sheet edges, residual mounting on the backing sheet, unframed.
