This unique print, on double-weight paper with a matte surface, is in generally excellent condition. As is typical of the photographer's working process, the following are visible: a general rippling of the margins that likely occurred during creation of the object; a few sharp creases that do not appear to break the emulsion; scattered deposits of paint overall; and bumped margin corners.
The full annotation on the image reads as follows:
'"Spoor no more" .... Giraffes in mirage on the Taru Desert, June 1960,
Kenya / for The End of the Game / Last Word from Paradise
Peter Beard, Hog Range Box 47616 Nairobi'
The stamps on the reverse are as follows: 'The Time is Always Now'; 'Stress & Density / Camera Work / Berlin'; the photographer's studio; and 'Michael Hoppen Photography, London.' There are stray paint, ink, and graphite deposits and some minor abrasions on the reverse.
