Condition

This excellent occupational study delivers fascinating insight into its sitter. The figure is posed confidently, with one leg forward and an arm propped on his hip. The details of the figure's clothing are quite clear, including the hole on his trousers. A very thin band of tarnish is visible following the contours of the mat. Upon close examination and in raking light, scattered fine pitting is visible near the left, right, and upper edges of the mat. There are 5 pin-point-sized green accretions with faint halos: one on the sitter's eye; one on each side of the sitter's head; one on his shoulder; and one to the left of the sitter's arm. There is a tiny impression in the lower right corner. The case is relatively clean, but the cover is detached.
