  • gelatin silver print
mounted, signed, dated, and editioned '2-50' in pencil on the mount, numbered ‘145N’ by the photographer in pencil on the reverse, 1934, no. 2 in a projected edition of 50 (Conger 828)

Provenance

Acquired from the family of Sonya Noskowiak, 2005

Condition

This early print, on a slick white mount, is in generally very good condition. There is faint silvering in the darkest areas of the print, primarily at the periphery. Under close inspection in raking light, a few pin-point sized impressions and scattered deposits of retouching are visible. The mount is faintly yellowed at the edges and there are scattered fox marks. The edges of the mount are worn. On the reverse, '76:010:056,' '56' (circled); 'AN'; and 'X-EW102' are written in an unidentified hand in pencil. The reverse is extensively foxed and yellowed, especially at the edges. In addition to the print of this image in the Edward Weston Archive at the Center for Creative Photography in Tucson, Conger locates a Project Print at Santa Cruz.
