- Gelatin silver print
title and annotations in French and Portuguese in pencil, ink and red crayon, the photographer's credit/reproduction right stamp, 'Manchete' publication stamps, and newsprint caption on the reverse, 1945, printed later (Cartier-Bresson, pl. 68)
Condition
This print, on a semi-glossy double-weight paper, is in generally very good condition. Its fine condition is remarkable given the number of hands it likely passed through as indicated by the use stamps and caption on the reverse. In raking light, small handling creases are visible overall, some of which may break the emulsion. Reduction notations in red crayon are faintly visible upon extremely close examination. There is light soiling on the image and in the margins. The lower right margin corner is bumped, and the edges faintly rippled. The reverse is heavily soiled. There are reduction notations in ink on the reverse. When examined under ultraviolet light, this print appears to fluoresce.
