Catalogue Note

'Atom Bomb Sky' is the last image in the seminal book of William Klein 'Life is Good and Good for You in New York: Trance Witness Revels'. It is the final conclusion of this historical book that ends with an apocalyptical view of New York. William Klein's New York had itself the effect of a blast when it first came out and still has lots of references in today's photography. Its energy have influenced a number of photographers, video makers and editors across the world. 'Atom Bomb Sky', with 'Gun 1', is inevitably the most powerful image of this historical opus.

Unlike the other prints from this edition, this particular one is in a unique oversized format that was ordered to William Klein to be printed directly from the negative. This adds more drama into the picture: profound details are present in the soft light over Manhattan and gives an additional "Atom Bomb" effect (as the title of the work suggests)  which makes this print extremely powerful.
