Provenance
Anonymous sale, New York, Christie's, 31 May 1990, lot 135.
Condition
The panel consists of a single board that is cradled. Underneath an old varnish a decorative image reads well, though some fine blistering and paint loss has occurred in the lower quarter of the painting. Even smaller losses are also visible in the sky on the center left edge, which might indicate further blistering to occur. These should be stabilized. There appears to be some retouching to the profile of the animals. Stabilizing the blistering is recommended, and retouching the small spots of loss could also improve its appearance. The painting is offered in a wood frame with inner and outer gold lining that has scattered losses.
