Description

  • After Sir Thomas Lawrence, P.R.A.
  • Portrait of Charles Augustus, Prince Hardenberg (1750–1822)
  • oil on canvas, unframed

Condition

The canvas is unlined. The paint surface presents a milky and uneven layer of varnish. This inhibits further inspection of the paint surface beneath. A repaired tear to the tree on the right margin is visible to the naked eye. Inspection under ultra violet light reveals the retouching over the aforementioned tear and the rest of the canvas appears to be clean. Overall the canvas is in very good condition. The painting is offered unframed.
