Description

  • François de Troy
  • Portrait of a lady, three-quarter-length, holding flowers
  • oil on canvas

Provenance

Anonymous sale, Paris, Tajan, 19 December 2007, lot 28.

Condition

The canvas is lined, the paint surface is clean, and the rather shiny varnish appears clear and even. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals restoration to a number of areas, through the sitter's dress, an area in her chest, right hand, and throughout the background, particularly on the left. The sitter's face is almost completely free of intervention, however. Offered in a carved and gilt wood frame in very good condition.
