Provenance

Anonymous sale, London, Christie's, 18 December 1964, lot 41, as dated 1562, for 90 guineas to Broad.

Condition

The oak panel is flat and uncradled. The paint surface is worn and under ultra violet light it is clear that much of the paint surface has been strengthened. The left side of the painting with the ruins is better preserved and in tact. Offered in a later parcel gilt and wood verneer frame.
