Condition

The canvas is lined. Some signs of old but stable craquelure around the centre of the composition, only visible upon close inspection. Overall the work appears in good condition. Ultraviolet light reveals an opaque varnish. Some scattered flecks of retouching across the sky and to old craquelure near centre of sky. Also some flecks of retouching to the horse by centre of left edge and a few small flecks through the foreground. Held in a gilt plaster frame.
