Luca Giordano, called Fa Presto

At the time of the Vienna sale in 2013 the attribution of the present painting to Luca Giordano was endorsed by Professor Riccardo Lattuada on the basis of images. Professor Lattuada dated this unpublished painting to Giordano's early period in the 1650s and noted that in the inventory of the collection of Giovanna Battista Pignatelli d’Aragona Cortes, duchessa di Terranova e di Monteleone, compiled in Naples on the 30 September 1723, a painting by Giordano of the same subject is listed, which could correspond with the present work as the measurements (given in palmi) of 2½ x 3 are very close.
