Anonymous sale, London, Sotheby's, 8 December 2011, lot 139.
Condition
The canvas has been lined, the paint surface is dirty and the varnish is slightly discoloured. The craquelure appears as a fairly consistent grid pattern, seemingly as a result of the preparation beneath, as well as probably the lining. There are scattered, discoloured retouchings in the Magdalene's hair, arms, cloak, and in the background, particularly to the top and to the right. These fluoresce under ultraviolet light, as do scattered, smaller, spot retouchings in her sleeve and flesh tones. In overall fair condition. Offered in a later painted wood frame with ripple moulding in good condition.
