Condition

The canvas has an old and sensitive relining with an uneven and discoloured varnish. There are a handful of tiny losses in the sky due to flaking, and a degree of surface dirt. The paint surface has suffered a degree of wear, but there are no major damages visible. Inspection under UV light reveals old, broad retouching to the bottom left corner, and in the sky, some of which is probably unnecessary, and fewer small, sensitively executed strengthenings scattered in the foreground. Offered in a carved gilt wood frame in good condition.
