Description

  • Necklace with beads and acorns
  • rock crystal and silver gilt, with some later metalĀ mounts
  • German, second half 16th century

Condition

The rock crystal pieces and silver acorns have been re-strung with modern metal chains. The acorn which functions as the fastener at the top is a modern addition. Otherwise the condition is good, with some wear and dirt consistent with age, including minor chips and abrasions to the rock crystals. There are naturally incurring inclusions to the rock crystal, consistent with the material. There is some tarnishing to the silver, including around the large crystal pendant. There are minor losses to some of the acorns.
