Condition
Overall, the condition of the wood is good, with some dirt and wear to the surface consistent with age. There is stable splitting to the wood, consistent with the material, including a split through the prophet's proper right leg and the mantle at the back. There are some larger chips to the edges, particularly at the bottom and the top of the relief, which may also be a consequence of splitting. There are a few losses, including to one of the claws on the left hand side of the relief and to the prophet's proper left arm. The prophet's nose has been reattached. There is wear to the polychromy throughout, including some losses, in particular to the high points. Some of the polychromy is likely to have been refreshed. There are modern mounts and metal wire to the reverse.
