Description

Condition

The Head is a fragment from a full figure; there is a hole to the underside with which it may have been attached to the body. Given its fragmentary status, overall the condition is good, with wear and some dirt to the surface consistent with age. The top of the head is carved separately and detaches. There is light weathering to the surface throughout. There are several losses, notably to the beard on the proper right side, to the tips of the crown, to the edge of the headdress, and to the top of the head. There is a dent above the tip of the nose, and possible surface restoration to the sides of the nose. There are several minor chips and abrasions throughout, including to the forehead. There are a few traces of polychromy, notably to the headdress and crown.
