Catalogue Note
This drawing, in which the heroic figure finds himself in an adverse predicament, dates to circa 1790. By this time Cosway had firmly established his reputation as one of the leading artists of Georgian London. We are grateful to Dr Stephen Lloyd for his help in cataloguing this work.
