  • Two battle scenes: Troops with Medici banners fighting Turks
  • Both pen and brown ink and wash, over traces of black chalk;
    one bears old attibution, lower left: Tempesta
    both bear old inscriptions, verso: Batail de la main / D'Anthonie Tempesta and De la main / D'Anthonie Tempesta

Condition

Rearing Horse: Hinged to a modern mount. There are two tears to the upper centre and a number of small nicks to the lower edge. The sheet is fractionally abraded, but the image itself remains strong. Soldier on ground: Hinged to a modern mount. There is a tear to the upper edge and various other niks and losses. There is another tear to the centre of the sheet and other abrasions throughout. The image remains reasonably strong.
