Description

  • 72cm. high, 41.5cm. wide, 31cm. deep; 2ft. 4¼in., 1ft. 4in., 1ft.
the inset white marble top with a brass gallery surround, with three drawers, on slender cabriole legs joined by an undertier, with sabots; the sides with associated masks

Provenance

Most probably purchased by Arthur Hill-Trevor, 3rd Viscount Dungannon (1798 – 1862) for 3, Grafton Street, London;
Moved to Brynkinalt Hall, Denbighshire following his death and thence by descent.

Condition

A good piece with marks and scratches consistent with age and use. The marble top with one repaired breakage and the front-right corner chipped. The brass gallery tarnished, with one minimal breakage. Very minor losses to the veneer, and secure shrinking cracks to both sides. The mounts with light tarnishing. The undertier with overall losses and one secure noticeable crack. Losses and repairs to the parquetry overall, but no lifting to the veneer. Ready to place.
