Catalogue Note

Although Chopin had died on 17 October, in the presence of his sister Ludwika (1807-1855) and other Polish friends, his funeral did not take place until almost a fortnight later on account of the elaborate arrangements for the performance at the Madeleine of the Requiem by his beloved Mozart. The obsequies were attended by almost 3000 people.
