Condition
Original canvas. The canvas is sound. There are a few light scratches and scuffs in places. There is a minor canvas undulation along the lower edge towards the right corner, possibly an object between the canvas and the stretcher. There is a faint stretcher bar mark visible running vertically down the centre of the work. There are light scuffs to the extreme corners. There is some minor craquelure around the edges of the canvas where it overlaps the stretchers, and a few isolated areas of craquelure in places, most noticeably in the upper left corner towards the vertical edge and the lower right quadrant towards the vertical edge. Subject to the above the work is in very good overall condition.
Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals some small specks of retouching in places, most of which are concentrated around the upper right corner and right vertical edge. Some of these are visible to the naked eye and therefore could be considered to be in keeping with the Artist's materials and techniques. Further retouchings are visible around the upper edges of the shaped elements along the top of the work.
