Description
- Meera Mukherjee
- Untitled (Fisherman)
- This work is unique
- Bronze
- 38.8 x 24.5 x 14.3 cm. (15 ¼ x 9 ⅝ x 5 ⅝ in.)
Provenance
Acquired directly from the artist by a private collector who taught at the Goethe Institute in Kolkata circa the early 1970s. They developed a close friendship and continued to correspond after the collector moved back to Austria
Thence by descent to the present owner
Condition
The surface of the sculpture is uneven and discoloured. Small areas have been in-filled with another metal but this appears to have been done by the artist to conceal natural casting flaws. The sculpture has been shown to a restorer who can minimise the discolouration if desired. Accretions are also present throughout.
