Condition
The illustration is accurate. Good overall condition.
The bronze : The gilding is slightly tarnished and rubbed especially at the reverse of the bottom.
The mechanism : The gilt-brass two-tier movement with fusee to the going train, verge escapement with balance mounted beneath the top-mounted bell, the lower tier housing the striking train, with spring barrel, the locking wheel located in the base, pinned hexagonal pillars throughout.
Condition - Going train spring barrel replaced, balance replaced and now fitted with a later spring and regulator, striking train appears to be largely original but locking wheel is probably replaced and striking wheel may be as well. Alarm train is completely removed and missing. No winders. A remarkable early clock showing distinct similarities with the clock by Pierre de Fobis in the Frick Collection.
