Catalogue Note
Ce grand siège interpelle par la densité et la précision de son répertoire ornemental, en effet la quasi totalité des motifs décoratifs utilisés sous la Régence apparait sur ce fauteuil. Ils sont sculptés avec une grande minutie et témoigne d'une main particulièrement virtuose. Cette densité et cette richesse sont exceptionnelles et peuvent se comparer à l'illustre suite de sièges autrefois possédée par le financier Crozat et aujourd'hui en partie conservée au musée du Louvre (inv. OA 11200-11201). Les grands accotoirs sans manchette qui viennent à l'aplomb des pieds, l'entretoise qui réunis les pieds empruntent encore aux dessins et proportions des fauteuils du tout début du XVIIIe siècle. Il faut remarquer les hautes traverses qui permettent de recevoir une riche sculpture et des ajours tout en autorisant de recourir à une garniture parfaitement adaptée qui permet de rehausser le siège ; certainement pour accentuer l'importance de celui qui l'utilisait.
