The canvas has been relined. Overall the paint surface has been very well preserved and there is lovely detail in the architecture, water and figures. There are a couple of discolored retouches in sky at upper left (visible in catalogue image). Under UV light: the aforementioned retouches fluoresce; there is other retouching in the clouds at center just above the bridge and architecture, and on the smoke coming out of the chimney at left. There are some retouches to the side of the building at far right, but otherwise the architecture looks very good and there are just a few very small cosmetic retouches in water. This painting is presentable and could be hung as is, though the slightly discolored areas in the sky could be redone more satisfactorily. In a carved and gilt wood frame.
