Condition
The following condition report has been provided by Simon Parkes of Simon Parkes Art Conservation, Inc. 502 East 74th St. New York, NY 212-734-3920, simonparkes@msn.com, an independent restorer who is not an employee of Sotheby's.
This work has been well restored and should be hung in its current condition. The canvas has been lined with a non-wax adhesive. The paint layer is clean and varnished. Under ultraviolet light, retouches can be seen around the top of the large tulip in the upper left. There are probably other small spots of thinness that have been retouched in the darkest colors of the background around the flowers of the still life. Some cracking has been retouched in the background in the lower left and lower right. There are very few retouches within the flowers themselves, except for some in the marigold in the center and in the deep red flower in the lower right.
