Condition

A yacht and a Norwegian coaster in a storm: Oil on board. The surface is in overall good condition aside from a small loss at the upper right corner; frame abrasions visible at all extreme edges; and a circular dent to the board at lower left with radiating craquelure. Under UV light, dots and dashes of retouching are visible, mainly in the sky, with a combination of newer and older retouching. Retouching at the extreme edges at all sides. Framed and ready to hang in its current condition. A schooner yacht of the Royal Western Yacht Club off Teignmouth Oil on board. The surface is in overall good condition aside from craquelure and pigment separation, visible especially in the lower right quadrant. There is a minor scuff at the center of the sky near the top edge. Under UV light, there are scattered small areas of retouching throughout the picture plane, especially in the sky. A few small areas in the center sail of the main ship. Additionally a few small scattered areas of retouching in the water. Framed and ready to hang. The £1000 match between the Water Witch brig (Henry Bradley) / & The Galatea schooner (Lo Beefall) / won by the brig. / N. Condu Junior pinxit 1837 / Devonshire Terrace / Plymouth Oil on panel. The surface is covered by a textured web of craquelure. Discolored retouches are visible in the sky. Frame abrasions visible at lower left corner. Under UV light, much of the sky and the aformentioned visible craquelure have been retouched.
