Composed of seven strands of cultured pearls measuring approximately 8.6 to 4.1 mm, alternating with ruby, sapphire and emerald beads, highlighted with rondelles and floral caps set with round and single-cut diamonds, the clasp set with a carved emerald flanked by round diamonds, shortest length 31½ inches, signed David Webb; circa 1970.
Condition
In good condition, with minor surface wear to the white gold mounting. Stamped 18K for 18 karat white gold. The diamonds, estimated to weigh a total of approximately 6.80 carats, are approximately G-H color, VVS-VS clarity. The strand ends with visible dots of adhesive added to strengthen their connection to the clasp. Beads are strung on wire for strength due to the weight of the beads. Carved emerald on clasp is carved on either side, and is an opaque green color, heavily included, with surface-reaching inclusions. The emerald beads are a semi-transparent medium green to slightly yellowish green color, moderately to heavily included. The ruby beads are an opaque strongly purplish red color, heavily included. The sapphire beads are a semi-transparent to translucent medium blue color, moderately to heavily included. The cultured pearls are of cream body color, with moderate rose and green overtones. Clasp closes securely and is fitted with a safety closure. Shortest strand approximately 31½ inches; longest strands approximately 37 inches. Bears a nice heft, gross weight approximately 239 dwts.

Catalogue Note
The necklace offered here was part of the collection of Madame Helène Rochas. She married the French perfumer and fashion designer Marcel Rochas. In 1955, after her husband's death, she took over the company and the House created mythic fragrances like 'Madame Rochas', 'Femme' and 'Eau de Rochas'. Helène Rochas, known for her remarkable beauty, was one of the most elegant women of her generation and recognized for her refined taste.
