Condition
The canvas appears to be original. There are faint stretcher bar marks to the upper and lower edges. There is craquelure to the blue pigment. There is a faint scratch measuring approximately 9cm., with four tiny instances of minor loss to the white vessel. There is a further smaller and faint vertical scuff to the seated woman in the lower right corner. There is a slight discolouration to the varnish and light surface dirt throughout. This excepting, the work appears to be in very good overall condition. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals an uneven and discoloured varnish, highlighting the aforementioned two scratches. The work is held in a painted wooden frame. Please telephone the department on +44 (0) 207 293 6424 if you have any questions regarding the present work.
