Condition

Not examined out of the frame. The canvas appears sound. There are one or two minor specks of surface dirt. Subject to the above, the work appears to be in excellent overall condition. Ultraviolet light reveals a layer of milky varnish which makes it quite difficult to interpret the surface. There are some small flecks of retouching in each of the corners, with some further possible specks of retouching elsewhere. There are also some areas of fluorescence which are thought to be in keeping with the Artist's materials. The work is float mounted in a painted and gilded wooden frame. Please telephone the department on +44 (0) 207 293 6424 if you have any questions regarding the present work.
