Condition
Not examined out of the frame. The canvas appears sound. The canvas undulates at the lower right corner, and there is evidence of some rubbing to the corners of the canvas, with some associated very small flecks of loss. There is craquelure at the centre of the left vertical edge, with an associated fleck of loss, with further very minor lines of craquleure apparent towards the upper left vertical edge, the upper left corner, to the purple pigment to the right of the arm and to the yellow pigment in the upper left quadrant, visible only upon very close inspection. There are some very small, isolated flecks of loss, most apparent to two of the leaves of the orange branch, the centre of the left vertical edge and towards the upper right vertical edge, with one or two possible further tiny flecks of loss elsewhere. There are some light specks of surface dirt and studio detritus. Subject to the above, the work appears to be in very good overall condition.
Ultraviolet light reveals no obvious signs of fluorescence or retouching.
The work is presented in a simple wooden frame, held under glass.
