Description
- Mary Fedden, R.A.
- Flowers in a Vase
- signed and dated 1967
- oil on board
- 39.5 by 29cm.; 15½ by 11½in.
Provenance
Whitford Fine Art, London, where acquired by the present owner, September 2004
Condition
The board is sound. There is a tiny instance of very slight reticulation to the black pigment at the base of the jug, and some extremely minor traces of light surface dirt, but this excepting the work appears in excellent overall condition.
Ultraviolet light reveals a few tiny specks of scattered fluorescence and probable retouching to the lower half of the composition. These have all been very sensitively executed.
Housed in a painted and gilt wooden frame.

Catalogue Note
'I so enjoy the process of painting still lifes …I like to develop my ideas from the imagination rather than being tied to what is in front of me.'
