folio (273 x 190mm.), calligraphic and illuminated manuscript BY ALBERTO SANGORSKI, 29 vellum leaves (including blanks) comprising title-page, 3 full-page illuminated illustrations, 34 pages of text, many including significant embellished borders, and colophon, bound in full brown morocco by Sangorski and Sutcliffe, spine gilt in compartments, lettered in gilt on upper cover together with floral design in blind, marbled paper doublures and free endpapers, collector's slipcase, bookplate, front free endpaper becoming loose, extremities very slightly rubbed

Catalogue Note

A fine example, probably dated around 1910, of the work of Alberto Sangorski (1862-1932) with numerous ornamental capitals and embellished borders. As noted within the colophon, the text is taken from "the Boke of St Albans emprynted at Westmestre by Wynkyn the Worde the yere of thyncarnacion of our Lorde MCCCClxxxxvi".
