A similar dress in green was presented at the exhibition la couture à l'oeuvre, Musée Galliera Hors les murs, musée Bourdelle, Paris, 2011. The New York Fashion institute of Technology also holds a similar model in brown.

Condition

A Madame Gres couture draped jersey dinner dress, 1944, small black on white woven label, with finely pleated bodice and rouleaux effect to hips with fine pleats below, concealed hook and eye fastenings to front, bust 86-92cm, waist 66cm, 26in 2 x 2 L shaped tear and repair to front right waist, 2 small moth holes above (midriff area); two darned moth holes to left sleeve, side seams have been slightly taken in at the waist. Two small moth holes to back bodice panel; gathers at left cuff need re-stitching
