Catalogue Note
Krishna seated in his chariot receives a brahmin messenger - his finger thoughtfully raised as he listens to the messenger's plea to rescue Rukmini.
On Krishna's command his charioteer Daruka leans into the reins as his four white horses Saibya, Sugriva, Meghapushpa and Balahaka swiftly leap forward towards Kundinapura, the home of Rukmini. On a curving celadon green ground, the red tinged clouds swirl above in agitation. The composition an interplay of curves and ovals combined with an extraordinarily refined and confident line.
With a red outer border and ruled lines.
