    The second: signed Luce (lower left); signed again and dated 1928, inscribed Bergue, probably in another hand (on the reverse)
  • Both: oil on paperboard
  • The first: 11 5/8 by 16 in.; 29.5 by 40.5 cm
  • The second: 10 5/8 by 16 in.; 27 by 40.5 cm
  • The first: painted in 1939. The second: painted in 1928.

Condition

The first: The medium is oil on paperboard. The work is in good overall condition. There is what appears to be a very small loss to impasto in the upper right corner, about an inch from the visible right edge and another in the center just above the visible bottom edge. There is some minor surface dust. Under UV: there is no apparent inpainting. The work presents well. The second: the medium is oil on paperboard. The work is in good overall condition. There is a small loss in the upper left corner about 3mm wide, 1/4 inch from the visible left edge. Under UV: there is no apparent inpainting. The work presents well.
