Examined within the frame. The canvas is not lined and is gently undulating. Recto: Une joueuse antique de diaule. Examination under UV light reveals no signs of retouching. There are some pinholes visible along the lower edge. There is a small nick to the canvas surface to the upper left corner. Verso: Pont Valentré à Cahors. Examination under UV light reveals spots of retouching along the upper edge and a few further scattered spots throughout the composition. There is an additional area of retouching towards the centre of the lower edge, to the right part of the lower edge and a further spot of retouching to the centre of the blue pigment of the water within the lower left quadrant. There is some hairline stable craquelure visible in places, and there is some pigment shrinkage, predominately to the lower edge, with some associated pigment loss.There is a very faint horizontal stretcher bar mark visible across the centre of the composition and some frame rubbing visible along the left edge. There is some abrasion and associated pigment loss to the centre of the second bridge. This work is in overall good condition.
