Condition
Executed on cream wove paper, hinged to the mount in two places along the upper edge and floating in the mount. There are artist's pin holes to the upper left and right corners. There is a small tear to the centre of the left edge (approximately 1.5cm. long) and another tear to the centre of the right edge (approximately 5mm long) with a small associated paper loss. There are some flattened creases across the lower left corner, a flattened crease to the upper left corner and a further vertical, flattened crease to the left part of the lower edge. There are scattered spots of foxing to the sheet, most notably along the left edge. There are small areas of paint shrinkage to the black pigment of the model's hair as well as to the head of the African sculpture to the right and some handling marks and studio dirt in places. This work is in overall very good condition and the pigment is fresh and bright.
