Condition
The canvas is not lined. There is a layer of varnish preventing UV light from fully penetrating but examination under UV reveals some areas of retouching in places, primarily to the cliffs at the centre right of the composition and a further probable area of retouching towards the lower left corner. There are some further spots of retouching visible to the edges, in particular to the centre of the right edge and the left part of the upper edge. There is some craquelure in places and some pigment shrinkage, particularly to the upper edge. There are some spots of pigment loss in places, particularly towards the centre of the upper edge, to the right edge and towards the centre of the left edge. This work is in overall good condition.
