Condition

The movement is running at time of cataloguing, however it was not tested for the accuracy of time or duration of the power reserve and may need service at the buyer's discretion. Please note that Sotheby's does not guarantee the future working of the movement. Case in overall excellent condition with very light wear. A very small indentation to the upper right lug. Case back inscribed "Alyce Graf Knudsen Award, 1958." Dial in overall very good condition with light wear. One hairline mark between 4 and 5. A very small area of oxidation between 2 and 3. Movement inscribed "MOX." Movement in excellent condition. With an associated 14k white gold bracelet. Please note that it's pair was sold in our previous sale, N09368 Lot 249 in 2015.

Accompanied by an Extract from the Archives confirming the year of manufacture in 1957 and date of sale on April 28th, 1958. Together with a Patek Philippe service box and a retail tag.

The case back is inscribed for the Knudsen Award. Established on May 28th, 1956, the Rigmor and Carl Holst-Knudsen Award for Scientific Research was founded in honor of Mr. Holst-Knudsen's 70th birthday and his term as Chairman of the Board of Aarhus University. The University awards this prize annually to a researcher whose scientific work has produced significant results which promise to impact future research and findings.
