Catalogue Note
Presented in the Basel Watch Fair in 2010, the present lot is part of the Ref 5077P collection named Native Indians of the Great Plains. The depiction of a strong and daring native American galloping across the Plains on horseback and the vast landscape all come together on the enamel dial to deliver the wearer an incredible adventure in the wild. The art of cloisonné enamel is considered to be extremely delicate as it leaves no margin for error and only the most dedicated artisans are able to master this decorative art. Enamelling, an ancient art that dates back to at least the 5th century BC, is a highly distinctive craft form defined by a simplicity of design combined with rich colours. It is the only technique which lends itself to a degree of vibrations, colours, light, nuances and transparency. Despite watches with complications are well loved by many watch aficionados, simple time only watches with exquisite enamel dial will always remain a true legacy to collectors.
