Catalogue Note
Accompanied by a letter confirming the date of sale in 1908 to Prince Royal Eital Friederich of Prussia.
The present lot was sold to Prince Royal Eital Friederich of Prussia (1883-1942) in 1908, second son to the last German Kaiser and King of Prussia Wilhelm II (1849-1941). The watch was presumably a gift for his wife, the Duchess Sophia Charlotte of Oldenburg (1879-1964), to whom he was married just two years prior to its purchase, in 1906. A marriage known widely as an unhappy one, the pair divorced in 1920.
