Catalogue Note

Both stitched in formal floral and foliage designs (39 3/4 in.; 10100 mm and 32 1/2 in.; 825 mm, respectively). Together with:

Two others sewn with rows of silvered metal shells (34 1/4 in.; 870 mm and 31 1/4 in.; 794 mm, respectively); as well as an embroidered panel depicting a vase and branches in gilt and silvered thread, the latter mid-nineteenth century (15 in.; 380 mm). Five pieces in total.

Atarot are decorative panels used to embellish the neckpieces of tallitot (prayer shawls).
